Bare Oranges

Or How Foundation Turned Me Into A Fruit

I recently got the opportunity to try the barePRO foundation by bareMinerals complimentary thanks to Influenster and I have to say unfortunately it was not a match for me. I've had it on my "must try" list forever and was really excited to get a chance to use it. The color I received was just a bit too dark for me but I was able to work with it and originally really enjoyed it-it gives a complete but light coverage perfect for those "No Makeup" makeup looks. It was really great to use with my Naked palette and a good nude lip for a more natural look and made my skin look pretty flawless but not caked with makeup.

Unfortunately about half an hour after I applied it I did a lipstick check in the mirror and was shocked to see an orange staring back at me. I have never had an issue with a foundation oxidizing before (even ones that are well known for oxidizing on people) so I was definitely not expecting this out of a bareMinerals product. Not to be deterred I decided to try it one more time using a completely different primer, concealer and application method as well as do a skin test on the back of my hand. Lo and behold, half an hour later both my face and skin were the color of a beautiful tropical sunset. Bright orange.

Now I will say that plenty of other people tried the exact same product I did with much less fruity results so it seems I'm on the less common side of things here but hey, an honest review is an honest review and that's my job here.

All In All: 🌈🌈 2/10
The Good: Wonderful light but complete coverage.
The Bad: Unwearable by me past half an hour-your results may vary. For a $30+ foundation I think you can do better.
Where You Can Find It: http://www.bareminerals.com/face-makeup/foundation/.  Also available from both Ulta and Sephora.

Ultimately I can't give this a great review because it's just not something that can work for me....but I feel like giving it only one rainbow isn't fair either because it does do a good job at lightweight coverage and just because it doesn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you.
The ball is in your corner! I suggest going to your local store and doing a skin test before committing to a purchase or deciding it won't work for you. Thanks for reading and stay awesome!
